Ashley Madekwe and Ashley Leggat
Madekwe is a child of a mixed-race family from South London in England. Her mother is English and her father Nigerian. Her family was raised on an estate in South London community estate, and when she was fourteen, she attended The Brit School. The Royal Academy of Dramatic Art was where she received an acting BA. She was on stage in numerous productions during her time at school including the role of King Henry V, as Princess Katherine, and Wuthering Heights, as Catherine Earnshaw.
Madekwe first began her acting career with Storm Damage. Since then, she has made guest appearances in Teachers, Doctors, Casualty as well as Drop Dead Gorgeous. Madekwe landed her first motion picture in the 2007 Woody Allen movie Cassandra's Dream, opposite Colin Farrell and Ewan McGregor. She then was the lead in Elisha, a BBC Three pilot drama, in West 10 LDN. In her role, she also played Ollie in six episodes each of Trexx, Flipside, and Flipside. In 2008, she was offered the Bambi part on the ITV2 Drama Series Secret Diary of a Call Girl. She appeared in both series 2 and 3. Madekwe also starred as the main character on How to lose friends & make people feel alienated that was aired by Sony Pictures Entertainment back in 2008. Her credits in theatre are Little Sweet Thing by Roy Williams as well as Flight Path by David Watson.
Madekwe made her official US debut in the 2009 drama series The Beautiful Life, which only aired two episodes for The CW before being cancelled. In February, she was cast 2011 as Ashley Davenport on the ABC drama Revenge. The departure of Madekwe from the show was officially announced in May of 2013. After a period of two years as a main character, she appeared as a guest in the first episode of season three. She played Tituba in the TV series Salem in 2014 until. Madekwe and her partner who has been with her for a long time, Iddo Goldenberg, were wed in June of 2012. Together, they worked on Secret Diary of a Call Girl. Goldberg also appeared with Madekwe in Salem.
Ashley Leggat was born in Hamilton, Ontario, into an extended family of. Four of her older brothers were present as well: twins Todd and Bram, Brett & Rob. Ashley's sports brothers were avid baseball players during the summer months and hockey during winters. Ashley did not have the ability to walk, however she did dance. When she turned two-and-a-half she started Baby Ballet and fell in love. That was the start of Ashley's interest in dance. Ashley was a professional dancer throughout the various divisions until she finished high school. The competitions she participated in included ballet, jazz, tap as well as pointe and the acrobatics. Top soloists at major competitions such as International Dance Challenge, Showstoppers 56-7-8 Showtime, Flash Dance, Dance, Dance, Dance and many more were awarded to Ashley.
